THE UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN’S FUND (UNICEF): CALL FOR BIDS: REVITALIZATION OF 200 PRIMARY HEALTH CENTERS (PHCs) ACROSS 28 STATES IN NIGERIA.
UNICEF Nigeria, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), invites bids from experienced and technically qualified contractors for the upgrade of 200 PHCs to Level 2 across 28 States in Nigeria under the Revitalization of 200 PHCs Project.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
– Assignment: Revitalization of 200 PHCs across 28 States across Nigeria.
– Project Duration: 5 months (+6 months defect liability period)
– Estimated Construction Period: 5 months
– Start Date: 20 July 2025
– End Date: 31 December 2025
– Reporting To: UNICEF Nigeria Country Office – Supply & Health Sections.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
UNICEF Nigeria is actively supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigerian Health Sector Renewal Investment Programme (NHSRIP) to strengthen Primary Health Care (PHC) services. This initiative aligns with the Sector-Wide Approach (SwAp) to improve healthcare accessibility, particularly in underserved areas. The project includes rehabilitation and expansion of PHC facilities, encompassing structural renovations, upgrades to inpatient wards, and laboratory improvements. Additionally, utility enhancements such as solar power installation, boreholes, and reliable water supply will ensure facilities meet Level 2 standards. All activities will adhere to UNICEF’s quality and safety standards, ensuring long-term sustainability. By enhancing PHC infrastructure, the project aims to Expand access to quality healthcare, particularly for maternal and child health services, preventable deaths and strengthen disease control for HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, and immunization coverage, ease the burden on higher-level healthcare facilities, optimizing Nigeria’s health workforce and enhance epidemic response capacity, contributing to community-based healthcare and national health security.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Contractors must demonstrate technical expertise, financial capacity, and previous experience in similar construction projects. Bidders must meet national building standards and UNICEF procurement compliance requirements. Interested bidders will be required to do site visits and pre-bid meeting is scheduled on 23 June 2025. Meeting time is provided in the ToR.
